How to maintain your devices at home when our office is closed

TIPS for home care if your hearing devices have stopped working or are not functioning as you expect. Most of the problems with hearing aids are solved when excessive wax is cleared from the microphone screens or the part that fits into your ear canal.

  • Use AudioWipes, a dry cloth, or a tissue to clean the outside of your hearing devices. PLEASE DON’T USE ALCOHOL BASED WIPES. Mornings are a good time to do this as any wax or moist debris that may be affecting the hearing aid function will have dried out over the nighttime.

  • Try changing the wax trap.  This procedure is described elsewhere on this Help page (scroll down to: “Quick Guide for Changing Wax Guards.”).

  • If you have earmolds, use the wire loop on your cleaning tool to remove any wax from the sound tube and the vent.  Again, it is best to do this in the morning.

  • Replace the dome of your hearing device (if applicable).

  • When hearing devices are not in use, keep them in a dry storage container.

If problems persist, call our office at (813) 949-1331 and we will arrange a telehealth appointment or a curbside service appointment.
